Kalugin’s Shaftless Hot Blast Stove (KSS)

The modern and advanced KSS is characteristic of “high temperature, low investment, long service life and low emission” invented by Dr. IAKOV KALUGIN. KSS has  widely used in 250~5500m3 blast furnace with 1250~1350℃ blast temperature (maximum 1400℃) on the basis of general refractory, such as mullite-corundum brick, silica brick and fireclay brick. Using KSS not only reduce project investment but also costs of operation and maintenance in order to increase composite economic benefits.

 

The earliest KSS has been operating with more than 28 years service life without major repairs in the world.

In China

There has been more than 150 KSS in operation since 2002 in China. 95 percent of them were applied to large and medium size state-owned enterprises. The blast temperature of new blast furnaces increases 50~100℃ in average by joint efforts of China and Russia engineering technicians. The hot stoves with internal combustion chamber gradually disappeared from Chinese market. Generally, the temperature of KSS used on 5500 m3 blast furnace is raised to 1300℃. And the temperature of KSS used on 350~2000 m3 blast furnace is increased to 1200~1250℃. The KSS has been initiated a new era of hot stove with high temperature. The first KSS has been operating with more than 13 years service life without major repairs in China.

In the world,the KSS technology is the optimal choice to transform existing hot stoves with internal combustion chamber, external combustion chamber, sleeve type and ball type.
